INSTRUMENT

Your child needs access to a keyboard or piano in order to learn. Not having an instrument to practice at home might lead to slow progress and frustration.

I totally understand that a piano is a big commitment that you might not be ready for just yet! There are several ways to get a keyboard/piano:

  • Rent a piano (plan starts at $40/month) I love Vincitore, they are great. https://www.vincitorepiano.com

  • Get a simple 88-key keyboard (secondhand is also great!) This will allow your child to visualize the keys and practice their piece in terms of notes and rhythm. Price range: $100-200

  • Get a fully weighted keyboard. This will allow your child to play with the dynamics (nuances) and to feel the resistance of the key like on a piano. Price range: $350-600

  • Note that people give away pianos for free very often! Keep an eye open in your Signal or Whatsapp parents threads. You will need movers and tuning.
