PIANO&MUSIC
Holistic Piano & Music lessons
Becoming a musician isn’t just about mastering an instrument. It is about learning to listen, with our body, our mind, and our heart. Becoming a musician is about developing musical literacy and creativity. It is about embracing music as a way to connect. With ourselves, with one another, and with the world.
During A Tree Told Me Piano&Music lessons, moments can look very different. Some moments we play the piano, some moments we play percussion, some moments we move in space, some moments we sing, some others we listen with our ears and heart, some moments we draw… Learning music is an adventure full of emotions and fun. We aim to share our love for music, with joy.
Together we explore:
Creative Expression: with the piano, with the voice, with movement in space
Musical Understanding: music theory, ear training, music history
Technical Foundation: piano technique, reading notation, scales…
A Tree Told Me offers Piano&Music as private lessons as well as duo lessons (for families or friends). We accept students as early as 3 years old on case-by case basis. Please note, if you would like your child to take Piano&Music lesson at a young age, you need to participate actively during class. Most students start learning more independently age 5 and up, but all benefit from your active support.
Piano&Music integrates games, movement, storytelling, and technical practices, creating a dynamic and playful atmosphere. Parents do not need to know how to play the piano. They need to be happy to learn and have fun along with their little one(s)!

Do we need to have a piano at home?
It is ideal to have a keyboard available so your child can practice. It can be a very small digital keyboard at first. No need to invest in a piano before you are sure your child wants to play! Tip: it is usually pretty easy to find a piano for free (you’ll likely just need to hire a piano mover and a tuner)
Do I need to know how to read music?
No! You will learn with us!
How to make sure this is a good fit for my child and for our family?
We always start with a trial lesson ($30). This first lesson is the opportunity to meet, talk about your wishes and present what we offer. If everyone feels this is a good fit, we set-up our schedules!
My kids are 3 and 6, may they be in the same lesson together?
This is possible depending on several factors. Let’s have a call to discuss in more detail!
